Artsy Wednesday:Butterfly Nails

Hola amigos!  Artsy Wednesday is here and this week's theme is 'Butterfly Nails'.  Now, personally, I love butterflies!  I decided to go down the classic 'wing' route... I may not have the terminology correct on this so forgive me if I'm wrong but I think this is called a 'Tawny Emperor Butterfly'?

I think my black nail art pen is ready for nail polish heaven... it's a bit gloopy and made this mani difficult!  Ahhhh!

I first painted my nails in Hobart Place by Nails Inc which is more of a pastel orange, then sponged Leighton Denny's Sunburst over 3/4 of my nail as that's a brighter orange...

I then went on to sponge Hepburn by Leighton Denny onto my nail too which is a shimmery coral:

I used my black nail art pen to swipe a stripe on the diagonal at the base of the nail then at the tip; colouring the tip part in solidly with the black:

Then between these two areas I created curved stripes and added white dots to the thick part of the black:

And that was that.  I like that the coral shimmer shows through; I think it adds an extra dimension to the nail, without it I think it would have been too flat.

All in all, the perfectionist in me isn't happy with this mani but on the other hand it's still cute and think you can see what it's supposed to be at least!!

Now, check out the links below to see what the other girls from Artsy Wednesday have came up with this week:

  3. These look so pretty, I love the colour combination and detailing. Super Cute

Also I've found that if you add a little bit of nail varnish remover or thinner into the Polish and shake it up it will get rid of any glopes and then it wont have to go to polish heaven lol. But depending on the type of Nail art pen you have it may be difficult

  8. Your nails look perfect, I wish that I had the patience to do mine like that.. I have an awful habit of scraping nail varnish straight off though! No idea why.
