I've used paddle brushes for as long as I can remember and this post is dedicated to my most favourite... my Philip Kingsley!
After a couple of years of use I had to bite the bullet and replace my trusted friend...
My old one looks vile compared to the new doesn't it? So much paler and it hasn't even got the PK logo on the handle anymore! I feel bad for being harsh about it because we've been through a lot together... it's been there for me every day... we've had fun times and some sad times... we've visited some lovely places together and all the while it's been as reliable as ever. Awww...
I do look after my hairbrushes and I do wash them regularly and treat them with care but general wear and tear is inevitable right?
I'm not sure what the lifespan of a hairbrush is supposed to be exactly but I think I've had my PK brush maybes 2 years ish? Before my PK hair brush I always bought Aveda paddle brushes which pretty much look identical but I went through a phase where I was getting through them quite quickly... The pad thing that has the bristles on it kept popping out and the wood chipped on the handle fairly easily etc so I decided to invest in a PK and I must admit I've never looked back.
I know it sounds a little silly waxing lyrical about 'just' a hair brush but it's an under estimated beauty tool in my eyes... I mean how many times each day do you reach for yours? So you see... a reliable piece of kit is needed surely?
The hard bit now is deciding when exactly my old brush goes to heaven! I don't think I'm ready to part with it just yet so I'll keep it at my boyfriend's as my back up hair brush! ;)
Also, just another point to make... I always find the team at Philip Kingsley super helpful. If ever you have any doubts/questions about products their customer service is really good! This is something that as a beauty addict is important to me... I know I can cut my nose off to spite my face, but if a brand is all about the sale and no care or after care, it puts me off their products no matter how wonderful and fabulous they are! So big up to team PK!
