Artsy Wednesday - Ombre

Eeeee I love this week's mani!  Just had to get that out there! :)  This week we used the 'ombre' theme as nailspiration and this is what I came up with:

True to form, I had NO intention of doing my mani this way at all!  I had planned to do an ombre mani with purples as I have lots of purples; starting off by painting one pinky in a light shade and gradually getting darker to the other pinky.

BUT then I remembered how much I love my neon pink Pink Parka from Essie and then I love grey when it's teamed with pink so all in all I was seduced!

I decided on the nails to do ombre polka dots instead... I should have stuck to pink ombre dots on a grey base and the grey/black ombre dots on the pink base but I was kind of playing so I ended up a bit mix matched!

Here is the 'down low' of the nail designs:

Pink base with white/grey/black ombre.

Grey base with pink ombre.

Grey base with white/grey/black ombre.

Pink base with pink ombre.

Colours used for polka dots:

Pink Base: Essie, Pink Parka.

Grey Base: Leighton Denny, Zero Gravity.

Pink ombre: Light pink - LD, Sundae Girl, Mid pink - LD, Berry Nice, Neon pink - Essie, Pink Parka.

Grey Ombre: White - Nicole by OPI, It's All About the Glam, Grey - LD, Amazing Grey, Black - LD, Private Jet.

I really think I should have stuck to maybes grey ombre on pink base and pink ombre on grey base so my mani was more uniform but I was making it up as I went along so that's what I came up with!

All in all though I'm an absolute SUCKER for polka dots so I am really pleased with how this turned out!  Even if I could do with more practice using my dotting tools!
