Artsy Wednesday - Skittle Mani

If I'm honest I didn't know what a 'skittle' mani was but I asked Michelle over at Lab Muffin and she pointed me in the direction of manicures I had done in the past which I had called 'bubble manis' so I went with what I know and because it's the Jubilee here in England this coming weekend I went with the red, blue and white theme:

I really actually like this mani; sometimes I'm super critical of myself but this one I really like because I love the polka dot-ness and the fact it's Jubilee themed  makes it fun and patriotic for me.

I used Nails Inc polishes to stick with the British theme; Phillimore Gardens is the soft pink nude base:

The blue is Baker Street and the red is St.James:

I painted my base coat, then three coats of Phillimore Gardens, I then used a dotting tool and randomly dotted red and blue and finally white; for the white though I used Models Own white nail art pen which has a dotting tool attachment bit.  Lastly sealed it all with a top coat et voila!

What do you guys think?

Also, have you noticed I've changed my nail shape again?  My nails were getting really long and they needed some length taken off so I decided to go a bit square for a change rather than the rounded shape I had.  I feel like I have new nails so I'm all new fangled with them!  I'm such a saddo!

You can check out the following blogs to see how skittle manicures are actually supposed to look... just click on the blog name... :)

Holly - Hooked
Sofie - Swaafie
Melanie - Nail & Polish (Mel hasn't been able to partake in this week's challenge but check her past manis out all the same!)

Enjoy! Until next week! xoxox

  6. I thought Skittles manis were where each nail was a different color? Either way, I love the dotting on your nails here, they look very clean! I always have a couple of smudgy dots, haha.
